I just got a rustic new hutch. I love it and want to keep the natural look. What is the best way to treat or season the wood? I do not want to color or anything like that to change.
Go to Lowes. A clear sealant. They can help you. Did this with my living room. Clear sealant for wood.
treat it rough
Wood is going to get darker with age. If it is bare wood you will want some kind of sealer on it in case you spill something on it. Otherwise it could get stained.
If it is already finished then using a spray furniture polish is as neutral as anything else.
Rub some linseed oil into it , this helps preserve it.
You can buy at a hardware store, follow directions on the container.
Linseed oil can ignite on rags in confined areas, so hang rags out to dry afterward
Good for cricket bats too heh heh heh!.
My dad also uses a Polyurethane polish that is sprayed on and lasts for years, Looks good and brings out the woods natural color.
I could use some help again...
