When I tried to upgrade from 3.6 I got the following error:

Can anyone help?
It appears that "There are schema problems with your upgrade. I recommend you restore a backup from before the upgrade and try again. If you don't have a backup then you should ask your host if they have one.
If there is absolutely no backup to be had then you can attempt to manually fix this error by running this query:
ALTER TABLE album ADD public SMALLINT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '1'
Then refresh that upgrade step."
Which solved the problem and everything worked.
