I have created a LAN using ports firewire, with sharing to Internet connection with which I have access through my modem USB Trust md3100 in the computer host (gateway) with Outpost Firewall For ver. 4.0.971.7030 (584).
I went to "Options" -> "System" -> after in the section "LAN settings" , I clicked on the button “Settings...", and "Ok".
I have test the LAN with the command PING and it works, the computers sharing the files, but don't share the Internet connection, it doesn't work on the PC client.
If I disable Outpost, the Internet connection works also on the PC client.
How I can resolve?
Thanks in Advance.
P.S.: excuse my English
No answers?
I don't use the current version, because I am an Italian user and with my language there is only the version 4.0.971.7030 (584) or earlier.
In your link there is writed:
Find and edit ShowNATColumn=yes (if ShowNATColumn is not available then add it)
but there isn't line with "ShowNATColumn"
I have add "ShowNATColumn=yes" in outpost.ini, but don't appear nothing column.
The other instruction I had already do.
ICS traffic is blocked by Outpost.
what version of outpost? the current v6 requires you to add all the ip's of the other pc's and tick the NAT box as well as the 'trusted', tick netbios if you want file & print sharing. earlier versions did not have the nat tickbox there & require rules to allow the transit packets (ics was a bit iffy in early versions). see also 1
You mentioned using ver. 4.0.971.7030. I just wanted to merely point out the last version of OP 4 (ver. 4.0.1025.700) is available in Italian.
agnitum.it don't have a forum.
If It is correct, why It doesn't work?
Ah, ok.
With automatic updating didn't work, but istalling manually the application works.
This is strange. I downloaded the Italian version from the site in post #4.
See attached pictures.
Could it be the installed version is not 1025 even if the downloaded file properties say it is?
For information purposes, at agnitum.it (http://www.agnitum.it/products/outpost/download.htm), the latest version of OP 4 available is 4.0.1025.700 (per my download there). This version is also the very last OP4 version available in any language.
Where is?
I have just upgraded my Outpost, but is always the ver. 4.0.971.7030
if you enter a single client pc, you use the 'ip adress' option and enter the ip directly without a subnet mask, if you enter a classed subnet use the ip/subnet option; the last octet(s) will need to be a zero, ie 192.168.0.0 subnet 255.255.255.0 with up to 254 members (or 255.255.0.0 for a class b type with up to 65k members)
as your op has already determined your 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 class c subnet, you do not need to add it again. you should not need to add the client pc's individually unless you wish differences in the tick boxes, as long as they are in the subnet's range of 192.168.0.1 thru 192.168.0.254 (0 and 255 are not used for client pc's, they're reserved).
The current v6 requires you to add all the ip's of the other pc's and tick the NAT box as well as the 'trusted', tick netbios if you want file & print sharing.
I did what you said, but the internet connetion didn't worked the same on PC client!
Why?
well, if we knew, we'd have fixed it by now. have you gone through all your logs, are there any notations there for blocking incoming from the other pc?
Glad the version thing has now been sorted out!
My IP on PC Host (wint the USB modem) is 192.168.0.1 - Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 and Gateway 192.168.0.1 .
My IP on PC Client is 192.168.0.2 - Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 and Gateway 192.168.0.1 .
Outpost in Settings>Firewall>Lan Settings, automatically detects the network 192.168.0.0 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
If I want add specifically the IP with the subnet mask of the client (IP 192.168.0.2 - Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0), I have an popup with an error "You entered an invalid subnet mask. The subnet mask must be contiguous. Please enter a valid mask.".
It is the reason of my problem?
How I can resolve?
I could use some help again...
