Just got a new computer when adding ram or a video card monitor does not come on. Stays in sleep mode?

I had a gig of ram from my old computer i put into the new one and i get the problem with the monitor staying in sleep mode. I took that out and tried the new video card i bought and got the same thing with the monitor. Anyone help?
reinstall you OS with new components
unplug it from your video card and put into the motherboards video connection cause when you change the video card the pc video goes back to a default setting. it still doesn't work then you need to flash your bios.

you need to reinstall OS on your computer
make sure the ram is compatiable with your pc and that its in the right slot then as far as the video card that happens because your computer is set up for the onboard video card.
